This Privacy Policy explains what personal data ReelSkillz processes through reelskillz.com, the ReelSkillz Manager app, and the ReelSkillz plugins, why we process it, the legal bases we rely on, who we share it with, and your rights. We aim to process only what we reasonably need to operate accounts, licences, downloads, updates, orders, support, and fraud prevention. This policy is written to be consistent with our Refund Policy and Terms of Service.
ReelSkillz is operated by Nov Sovannaroth, trading as ReelSkillz, based in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. ReelSkillz acts as the data controller for personal data collected directly through reelskillz.com, the ReelSkillz Manager app, ReelSkillz plugins, customer support, licence management, and direct payment channels. You can contact us at studio@reelskillz.com.
Third-party payment providers and other service providers may independently control certain payment, billing, fraud-prevention, tax, and transaction data under their own terms and privacy notices. Where a provider determines how and why it processes your data, it acts as an independent controller for that processing.
Depending on how you use ReelSkillz, we may process the following, where applicable:
Device, activation, and integrity information is described in the next section.
To manage authorised licence seats and keep licences secure, the ReelSkillz Manager may process, where applicable:
We use this information to bind licence seats to your devices, enforce reasonable seat limits, and detect licence sharing. We do not use it to identify you beyond your ReelSkillz account and licences.
ReelSkillz may review limited account, transaction, licence, device, and support records when assessing a refund request or payment dispute, or when protecting against abuse. In particular, we may use these records to:
These records may assist ReelSkillz in reviewing a request but do not automatically determine whether a refund will be approved. Activation of a product does not, by itself, prove that a customer completed a commercial project, and ReelSkillz does not know how much creative work a customer has completed.
Where implemented, the ReelSkillz Manager may calculate a checksum or verification value for an installed ReelSkillz plugin. The complete plugin file is not intentionally uploaded. ReelSkillz may receive the verification result, plugin version, licence identifier, and device identifier. This is used to identify possible corruption, unauthorised modification, tampering, or licence circumvention. A mismatch does not automatically prove wrongdoing and may be reviewed together with other technical information.
ReelSkillz does not intentionally access, inspect, upload, or read:
Refund and licence reviews rely on limited licence, activation, transaction, integrity, and support records — not on inspection of your creative work. ReelSkillz cannot detect whether a particular client project was completed. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for behavioural advertising or profiling.
Free ReelSkillz plugins do not require a paid licence and may not require a ReelSkillz account. The plugin itself does not intentionally access or upload your projects or media. However, website visits, downloads, update checks, support requests, and content-delivery requests may cause limited technical information — such as an IP address, request time, app or browser version, and the download or update request itself — to be processed by ReelSkillz or its hosting and content-delivery providers, as described in Section 12.
The ReelSkillz Manager may check for available updates so it can tell you when a new version is available; this involves a request to our catalogue service.
Depending on the laws that apply to you, we rely on the following legal bases.
To create and operate accounts, deliver purchased products, issue and validate licences, manage authorised device seats, provide downloads and updates, process refund requests, and provide customer support.
To secure the website, app, and plugins; prevent fraud and payment abuse; detect licence sharing and tampering; enforce reasonable licence limits; diagnose technical problems; maintain service reliability; respond to chargebacks and disputes; and protect ReelSkillz and legitimate customers. When we rely on legitimate interests, we consider the impact on your privacy.
To retain transaction, refund, tax, accounting, dispute, or compliance records where legally required, respond to lawful requests from authorities, and protect legal rights and resolve disputes.
For optional marketing communications, non-essential cookies, and optional analytics where consent is required. Withdrawing optional marketing consent does not stop essential account, purchase, licence, security, refund, or service messages.
Payment information is collected and processed by the applicable payment provider. ReelSkillz does not intentionally receive or store complete payment-card numbers, card security codes, banking passwords, or payment authentication credentials.
Depending on the provider, ReelSkillz may receive limited transaction and fulfilment information, which may include your name, email, country, product, amount, currency, order or transaction reference, payment status, refund status, subscription status, payment-method category, and fraud or dispute status. We use this information to confirm purchases, issue licences, provide receipts or support, process eligible refunds, prevent fraud, and respond to payment disputes.
Different providers may act as payment processors, independent data controllers, authorised resellers, Merchants of Record, or banks or payment-channel operators, depending on the provider and transaction. For transactions processed through Paddle, Paddle's handling of your data is governed by the Paddle Privacy Policy. Other payment providers process personal and payment information under their own privacy notices and terms, which may be shown during checkout or made available on the provider's website.
We rely on trusted providers to operate ReelSkillz. They process data only as needed to provide their service, under their own privacy and security terms. Depending on their actual role, they may act as processors, independent controllers, authorised resellers, or Merchants of Record. They include:
ReelSkillz may share limited information with payment providers (to process payments, refunds, fraud reviews, and disputes); with hosting, database, authentication, email, and download providers; with professional advisers where reasonably necessary; with authorities when legally required; in connection with a business transfer, acquisition, restructuring, or sale, subject to appropriate protection; and to protect legal rights, investigate abuse, or enforce our terms. ReelSkillz does not sell your personal data, and does not share it for behavioural advertising or unrelated data brokerage.
When a refund dispute, chargeback, suspected fraud, or unauthorised payment occurs, ReelSkillz may provide relevant information to the applicable payment provider, bank, card network, wallet provider, or dispute-resolution service. This may include the order reference, customer email, purchase date, product purchased, licence status, activation date, number of authorised devices, relevant activation history, refund and support communications, the terms or policy version accepted, transaction status, evidence of delivery or access, and integrity or security records where implemented. ReelSkillz will not intentionally provide your project contents, footage, timelines, or unrelated personal files as dispute evidence. Not every dispute is treated as fraudulent; each is reviewed on its own circumstances.
When you use reelskillz.com, the ReelSkillz Manager, our APIs, downloads, or authentication systems, limited technical information may be processed, where applicable: IP address; request date and time; browser type; operating system; app version; the requested URL or API route; response status; error logs; authentication and security events; download requests; an approximate country or region derived from network information; and session identifiers or authentication tokens. This information may be processed for login and account operation, security, fraud prevention, licence validation, error diagnosis, service availability, abuse prevention, and download delivery. Technical logs are kept for a limited period and are not all stored permanently.
Signing in and keeping you signed in relies on essential authentication and session storage, such as authentication tokens stored by our authentication provider. ReelSkillz currently uses only necessary authentication, session, and security storage. ReelSkillz does not use behavioural advertising or cross-site advertising cookies. Third-party checkout providers, such as Paddle, may set their own necessary, security, fraud-prevention, and payment cookies under their own privacy notices.
ReelSkillz is based in Cambodia. ReelSkillz and its providers may process or store information in Cambodia, the United States, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Singapore, or other countries where our providers operate. Privacy laws may differ between these countries. Where required, ReelSkillz uses reputable providers and applies appropriate contractual, technical, or organisational protections. You may contact us for more information about the relevant providers and transfer safeguards.
Data is deleted, aggregated, or anonymised when it is no longer reasonably needed, subject to legal, security, fraud-prevention, and contractual requirements. We do not promise immediate deletion of all records.
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including, where applicable: encryption in transit over HTTPS; authentication and one-time-code verification; restricted administrative access protected by application secrets; access controls on our database and backend; protected application secrets and API keys; and rate limiting on authentication. Access to our records is restricted to what is necessary to operate the service.
No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. Because your email address is used to sign in and to manage your licences, please keep access to your email account secure.
Depending on the laws that apply to you — including the GDPR, applicable California privacy laws, and other applicable privacy laws — you may have the right to be informed; to request access; to correct inaccurate information; to request deletion; to restrict certain processing; to object to certain processing; to receive portable data where applicable; to withdraw consent where processing relies on consent; to opt out of optional marketing; and to lodge a complaint with an appropriate privacy or data-protection authority.
To make a request, contact studio@reelskillz.com. We may request reasonable identity verification before acting, and we will handle requests within the timeframe required by applicable law. We may not be able to grant every deletion or objection request where we are required or reasonably permitted to retain certain records — for example, for legal, tax, security, or fraud-prevention purposes. Not every law listed here necessarily applies to every customer or to ReelSkillz in every situation.
You may request account deletion by contacting us. We may verify your identity before acting. Account deletion may remove account access and online licence-management functions, and active licence seats may be deactivated. Purchased licence entitlements may be affected if they require an active online account.
ReelSkillz may retain minimum transaction, licence, refund, fraud-prevention, security, tax, legal, or dispute records where reasonably necessary. Deleting your ReelSkillz account does not automatically delete information independently held by Paddle or another third-party provider; you may need to contact that provider separately regarding data it independently controls. A valid historical purchase record may not always be fully erasable from all systems where retention is legally required.
ReelSkillz is professional creative software and is not directed to children. ReelSkillz does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13, or under any higher minimum age required by applicable local law. If a parent or guardian believes a child has provided personal data, they may contact us, and we will review and delete the data where required.
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above is revised when the policy changes. Material changes may be communicated through the website, the ReelSkillz Manager, an account notification, or email where appropriate, and we will request advance notice or consent where required by applicable law. Continued use of ReelSkillz does not override your mandatory privacy rights.
Questions or privacy requests: studio@reelskillz.com. We aim to acknowledge enquiries within one business day. Privacy requests will be handled within the period required by applicable law.
